In our blog, we are often speaking about the #PowerOfMusic for brands and how music can lead to an emotional connection with their audience.
Today, at Tuned Global, we wanted to explore how music can have a strong impact on our emotions and the way we feel.
The idea started with this wonderful video of an old man who has been in a nursing home for 10 years.
Henry was described as being unresponsive for the majority of that time, showing no signs of emotion or desire to communicate with anyone.
Watch what happens when he is given his favourite music to listen to and the emotion that ensues within him.
Music enables the brain to have fun, relax or motivate and can assist in healing socially, cognitively physically or even developmentally.
Music taps into a part of our brain that we respond to immediately even as young as a foetus in a mother’s womb. Music recognition precedes language and is used to calm distressed babies.
Music is a cultural composite and can be used as an incredibly powerful and motivating tool that in many cases is therapeutic.

We all like different types of music.
Some may feel more uplifted when they listen to classical music, while others don’t get the same high when listening to Bach or Beethoven.
However, research has shown that despite personal preferences, music in general has a synchronised effect on people’s brains. Music taps into our memories, and music therapists who deal with patients with dementia are stimulated to instantaneously recall a story from their past and reminisce about their lives.
It’s truly engaging and something that continues to captivate.

Follow @TunedGlobalImmediately after being introduced to an iPod, Henry was brought to life.
He became responsive when asked about music, his eyes widened, and his face lit up. He expressed passion while singing a tune.
This is the #PowerOfMusic.
This man had been brought to life with the joy of sound!
Music should be a human right and the sounds which are bliss to our ears globally should be part of a person’s day
Doesn’t this just make you think that music should be a human right, and the sounds that are bliss to the ears of millions of people globally should be part of a person’s day no matter what his or her circumstances are?
